SMS while phone [power] off

Is there a PC app or website that will manage my SMS messages while my phone is powered down? I text quite a bit, and when I power down for a full charge I would like to stay connected to my contacts via text, but as of now, I have to wait to reply until I power back on. I use Texdro while my phone is on, and I love it, but I am wondering if there is anything that will do this while the phone is off?

I have a 3500 mAh so the full charge can take as much as 2 hours (from the greenlight 100%). If I charge during the day that's a long time to be out of contact if there are crucial messages to get back to.

Or maybe something that will forward my texts to my email when the phone is powered down?

I know if you have google voice and give your buddies that number you can read them online without the phone being on.

that's cool, but that would mean giving all of my friends a new number, and hoping they remember to text that one. Thanks for the quick reply. I DO have GV, but I just don't think that would be as practical as having something that will let me use my current number. if it's just not possible (i.e. network issues) I will understand, but I'm still hoping this is something that is doable.

If anyone knows that this IS possible, but there just isn't anything on the market yet, I will post a similar thread as an app request in /Applications. Please let me know if you know whether this is possible, or simply not possible. I have Verizon.

edit: If I send a message with GV text to a friend it will likely show the GV number (right?). Is there a way to make it show my cell phone number, making this a work around for my OP?

As far as sending at text through google voice I havent really done that with it but i am sure the GV number will be the one to show up.

EDIT: just sent a test message to myself and it indeed does show the GV number.

It's not possible without a service like GV. Either your phone receives the SMS (i.e. power is on) or it doesn't. The reason you can with GV is that SMS is actually received by your GV account on Google's servers. The app really just syncs up with your GV account. GV's also very handy in this regard as you always have an online backup of your messages.

Not just likely. It will.

Nope.

Making the switch is a subjective call but it's not the hassle that everyone makes it out to be. Those that really need to stay in touch with you will easily adapt to a new phone number. People survived just fine for ages before number portability was ever an option.

Now, if you're talking about keeping voice calls on one number and text on another, that isn't a practical expectation for you to have of your contacts.
