Help Snapchat Issues

I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 and have had Snapchat installed for awhile. I don't really use it except to receive snaps from a friend. I rarely send snaps and haven't sent or received anything questionable. But I can't help but worry my device has somehow become blocked? Every time I try to add a friend or open a snap or send a snap, I get a message saying, "There was a problem connecting to the server" or "Could not add as friend." Then at one point all of my friends were erased, even and even though I would still get notifications saying I had a snap, they wouldn't be there. I tried clearing the cache and data, uninstalling the app, etc. After uninstalling, reinstalling, and restarting my phone, it let me log in again. I could see my friends and send and receive snaps again. For all of 2 days before I started getting the "Sorry, there was a problem connecting to the server" thing again. What's the issue? Snapchat has no solutions for me (I get an automated response telling me I should try joining the beta, which I did, and I'm still having these issues). I tried tweeting at them to no avail.

Did you try emailing their support email address? support@snapchat.com

Yep, got an automated response saying I should try joining the beta if I am an android user otherwise they can't help me right now.

You haven't got any third-party firewall or other security software on your phone have you? Kind of obvious, but just a thought.

Nope, not that I'm aware of? I haven't installed anything other than games since I bought my phone. I wondered if maybe it was an issue with a firewall on my router but even with data turned on I get the same issues.

I've encountered the same issue on an LG G5. Has there been any update on this issue? Were you able to get it resolved?

And that's Snapchat for you. Don't use it since it's causing such grief.
