Have him ask his doctor to order a sleep study. Insurance should pay for it. Sleep study will indicate need for CPAP or not, then doctor prescribes and insurance pays for rental of machine. After 13 months renting paid for by Medicare, I will own mine outright, not bad for a device that can run north of $1800. I have my periods of good sleep and I have my problems using the machine. Sinus problems do not make for an easy experience. Disgusted because, if doctors had dealt with this years or even decades ago for me, my present condition (to include first MI) could have been avoided, or so they say.
