And if so, any relatively easy way to remove it?

Yes it is, just checked my wife's. Not sure how to remove it other than rooting and flashing a custom ROM or using Titanium Backup.

Was on mine as well, and no idea how to remove it. Not too worried though as I just got a EVO 3D that I am switching too.
