stuff I downloaded from the Market after a phone reset?....or am I doing something wrong?

Other than previously downloaded market apps, a device reset is rather painless on Android phones. All your contacts, calendar entries, pulled right back down......so why not the apps I DL'ed? Backing them up to an SD card is nice and easy to restore them all, but then the market no longer knows what you have so you never know when an update is available.

When I reset my phone and installed the newest official HTC ROM, my phone still knew which apps I had previously downloaded. When I selected My Downloads, the apps were still there but not installed. I clicked on each one to install again.

Can only do that the first time you use market after a reset unless they are paid apps.

I did this a few weeks ago. Reset the phone, loaded market, installed a few things, took a call, recorded market and the list had gone. Had to search them all out again.

In my experience, only recently installed items are preserved after a reset. Stuff I had installed more then a week ago was gone.

My experience also - son's Pulse needed a reset due to forgotten pattern lock code. Market remembered the few paid apps and all his free apps the first time I we used it. Went in again a few minutes later to continue downloades and it still had the few paids apps but all the free ones were forgotten.

I think this is handled in 2.0 onwards? I'm sure I heard a Droid to N1 owner say all their apps and pics etc were automatically sent to the N1...

Oh that would be nice!

So weird it does not do it now. It's not like keeping the list would be a space concern. lol
