Lurker
Na not really, but I am bout ready to toss it in the fire.

Problem:

DroidX wont pass Motorola logo.

What caused the problem:

Tried to boot into "BootStrap Recovery". Rebooted normally into boot strap. Froze on Motorola logo.

What I've done:

  • Pulled battery. Left out over night. (no success)
  • Was able to wipe/format through standard recovery mode. (no success)
  • I am able to get to Boot Loader mode.

What I have researched:

I've come to the conclusion that this is the right material, but I still have doubts. Please offer any info if the following is correct:

Questions:

  • What's all this about reverting and bricking your phone?
  • Is this the right process?
  • Any suggestions?

I really appreciate if you guy's help me out. I am not too techy as I used to be. I am a Senior Biology Major so this was a big step into the unknown. It was fun, but I want to fix my phone now...lol You see what happens when you lurk here?

Thank you again.

It's a 2nd-init ROM. Once you install a 2nd init ROM, you can't use bootstrap anymore.

You will have to SBF. Next time you install a ROM, use the reboot menu that has a "recovery" option to get into recovery if it has one. Also, yes, that tutorial is fine.

Well it works. I did not ROOT again. I'll lurk more for a while. The whole reason why this started because I was having some trouble with my phone's camera (couldnt connect) and I was going to go back to stock......LOL...and I got what I wanted.

Anything else?

Glad you got it running again :) Just come ask questions next time, i did the same thing you did back in Dec, not ask enough questions :P

Anything else?

You know it now, but I'll just repeat: If you use a 2nd init ROM, do not use Bootstrap EVER. Only access clockwork recovery by holding the power button and using the boot menu in the ROM. Do that and you shouldn't have this problem again. :D

always look at the stickies at the top of the page, or read the instructions on the rom itself, that can always help
