Root So... I bricked my phone.. US Cellular

TheCox

Lurker
So I put the wrong firmware on my phone on accident... Put the cricket firmware on my USCellular device and well its bricked.. It works, but I have no cell service, nothing. All I have is the phone that works, but no cell service at all..

So any thoughts?

did you make a backup to the rom you were using? reflash the phone is the only choice or somehow reset the settings that you need to be at.

That's the thing, there was no backup to make, well, partly because I don't have the tools to make a back up, but secondly, I couldn't find any firmware for ANY USCC phone at all.

But long story short, I got it fixed, went to my local store and had them reflash to default firmware.

Yay for happy endings.

Hey, guy. Unfortunately, I did the same thing you did.

I've a question, if you don't mind.

Did they say anything or somehow know you had rooted your phone? I'm afraid they'd be all "YOU ROOTED YOUR VOID, WARRANTY VOID, GTFO".

Heh, mainly kidding.

I have deleted all the apks in the downloads folder, so I don't think there's anyway they'd know.

What did you tell them happened? I wasn't about to say I rooted my phone, bricked it, and flashed to Cricket stock. I just said I lent it to a friend, he dropped it, and then it wouldn't load past the Huaweii logo screen. Think that's believable:driver:?

About how long did the process take? And the lady on the phone at Customer Service said there would be no charge, is that also correct?

Thanks in advance for any and all insight, pal. Greatly appreciate it!
