So I Got ICS.. What's The Fascination? What am I missing?

Alright, I got it this morning. I notice the phone is definitely faster and smoother. No USB connection to my Jabra Freeway going to sleep. Weird data drop problems seem gone. Like the "add this phone number to an existing contact" and other stuff....

However.... What's the fascination?
Looks pretty much the same as Gingerbread.

What am I missing? And I'm sure I'm missing something other than certain settings and procedures being slightly different.

Only problem I have is hitting the "sleep button" locks the screen and no matter what I set in the settings it's always locked when I unsleep...

Any tutorials or FAQ around that show the new features of ICS?
 
It's not something people mention very often, but it lets you take screenshots, something I think has been a glaring weakness of Android for a long time.

And you can download Flash, but the trend is troubling.
 
Yeah, all the iPoop people will be like "hahahaha! you bugged us for years about not having flash, and now you don't either! "

Yea this is very annoying when all I want to do is turn off the screen to save battery life and don't want to lock until the lock time out value has been reached.
 
Go to Security, un-check "power button instantly locks."

In the same area you set the timeout interval when your device automatically locks.

Tried it and it doesn't work.

I think it might have something to do with my corporation's security and timeout policies. I have to snoop around some more.
 
ICS seems to be a smoother running OS. Seems less battery is used by BS operations. To add, My Dogs seem to behave a little better, I feel more confident, and Im not sure, but I have a feeling my truck is getting better MPG.

All of a sudden it now works... In fact the phone never locks :) Which is what I like. All I did was power the phone off for about an hour, power back on with the "Power Button Instantly Locks" unchecked and now it seems to work. Prior to this I was also NOT getting that initial screen with the key in the circle. It would go directly to the Password Entry Screen. Now if I press the "key" then the Unlock icon the phone unlocks fine with no password...
 
It's not Google/Android saying no Flash support, it's Adobe saying they don't want to provide it for Mobile OS devices any longer.

Really? If that's what's going on, then Adobe is digging Flash's grave, which is fine by me.

Not by me, getting a non-flash enabled website is very frustrating.... and then not being able to play flash games anymore? Come on, there's a bazillion out there.

The one-sided argument about playing videos with html5 is fine with me, really doesn't have much to do with flash in a lot of cases, but there are major sites that embed their videos in flash so they can't be "stolen".

2. GPS is on but no indicator at top of screen...
As noted, flash.. Doesn't work..

1. Hold down the home button.
2. GPS has always been a la carte. It will only show the indicator if an app is using it.
 
there are many features ICS brings that GB didn't have. Also Screenshot features have always been in Vanilla android but Motorola until now has removed that feature. One of the coolest things that i like about ICS is from the lock screen being able to pull the notification bar down.

ZOMG! I must have missed that if it was said before. This.... is... amazing. Thank you very much for posting this.

One thing I miss is the little shine the homescreen had when you swiped screens. Ya, I know its small and stupid, but I liked it and miss it. It was one of the things my friends seemed to like and comment on with my phone in the past.
