So if not Note 5. What phone?

Bet you're going to like it. Congrats! :)

I'm sure I will, EM. It'll at least, temporarily, temper my itch to "upgrade" my Note 3, which is now the longest timeframe that I've held onto a device (beating out my time with the Motorola Photon).

I'm targeting February-March, to make a decision on either switching to T-Mobile, or sticking it out with Sprint. If anything, that's the more complicated decision that I'll have to make.

Really love the screen to body ratio on this phone and really doesn't feel that large at all for a 6 inch screen'd phone.

Now to test t-mobile's network at home, which I will do shortly on a pre-paid plan. Unfortunately, can't get the lte booster without a post-paid plan.

This is what I feel like the v10 should have been. I'll likely keep this phone, even if I don't switch to T-mobile. Hope that T-mobile brings back the corporate discounts. Still trying to decide what other 3 phones would fill up my family plan roster, if I switched. Right now, based on rumored phones being released, it'll be G5, Priv (for work/personal business), and maybe p9 max (if that ends up being made). I really am just biding time until the foldable phones are released later in the year.

Congrats!
Thanks, EM. Still rocking my Note 3,while setting up the mate 8. Gonna take some time to make sure setup is done right and notifications don't get lost.

Oh, and the pics don't do it justice. I got mocha gold, not champagne gold. Really looks more platinum or titanium or gunmetal color.

For best results, go into Protected apps, Menu - protect all. Keep that updated.

Power saving, turn it all off, including the power intensive prompt in the setting under that.

They shoot you in the foot for performance in favor of insane battery life - it's too much help that you don't need.

Soooo, I got a Trial Note 5 to play with, as I have had a Note 3, 4 in the past and other phones like the iPhone. But I also have a LG V10 I am trying too right now. For the life of me, I wanted to like the V10, but I am having a HARD time adjusting to the buttons on the back. It also has a bit of LAG to it where the Note 5 never shows it any more. My Note 4 definitely had lag.

Anyone else use a V10 to try and go back to the Note? I like the replaceable battery and SD Card 200gb. :)

I've got both the V10 & Note5:
I'd like to meld the two:
The processor/S-Pen (& associated capabilities, omit the rest of TouchWiz)/Samsung's Superior Wireless Charging & add it to everything else on the V10 & you have the perfect phone.

Thanks, EM. Saw Joe's article today and updated most. I have to check the protected apps menu.

I'm officially gone from Sprint after 16 years! Best move I ever made. For those that were considering the Note 5,from the Note 3, I highly recommend the Mate 8. The overall form factor is not much bigger, by feel, than the Note 3,but 6 inch screen is very comparable, but battery life and performance miles better. Only thing not worth it is the software, but Nova cures all of that.

Just another ringing endorsement for the Mate 8. Not only do I have 128gb internal and a 200gb micro sd, but my average screen on time, following the same patterns I had daily with the Note 3, is 1 day and 5 hours! Overall battery life
1 day 21 hours.

I take it that T-Mobile is working out for you? I am still deciding if I want to leave Sprint. I don't want to pay monthly installments for my phone. And I am not sure I want to pay the whole price upfront. But I am tired of Sprint's slow service.

That Mate 8 looks great. And you seem to get extremely great battery life. Hopefully the Mate 8 will officially come to the U.S.

Same problem I face again.... Can't find an Australian Communications company that is bringing the Mate 8 into Australia

Absolutely! Had I known their Cellspot (Equivalent to Airrave) would be 10 X's better than Sprint Airrave, I would have switched when it first came out. I can't see myself ever going back to CDMA. This might feed my phone addiction more, but if manufacturers make phones with all 3 T-mobile lte bands, at least Ican consider them now, even if not offered in the US. I will say that I still don't understand why people feel that paying monthly on a phone saves money compared to subsidized upgrades. If T-mobile offered subsidized upgrades, I would lock myself in for 2 years with them. Considering I was able to get a Note 3 for 79+tax at launch, I still paid way less in 2 years of commitment, than I'm going to pay T-mobile for the Priv and V10 I bought. With the current special on the 10gb and unlimited family plans, there was no question for me. I don't even mind that I will be paying more on the devices, since service has been way betterbthan any point I can remember with Sprint.

Mate 8 makes the experience that much better. Except for not having the s-pen, everything else has been great for me.

Mate 8 has so many gsm lte bands built in, have you checked to see if all of the bands for your provider are on there? There have been a few people on XDA that are using it in Australia. They purchased unlocked Chinese and International versions and from what I read, worked fine for them.

Now that the S7 has been officially announce, anyone considering this?
I'm very happy about the RE-addition of the SD Slot and IP68 is the icing on the cake.
Now hoping that the S7 Plus will be the same and that is my new phone.

I haven't heard any talk regarding an S7+ in a while & with the S7 Edge clocking in @ 5.5",I seriously doubt if we see any more size optios for either the S7 or S7 Edge.

My guesstimation is Samsung floated the rumored varieties to the blogs/etc... & used some consumer feedback/demand from last year & picked what they deemed the most wanted & dropped plans of any more size options, that is,until the next Note 6 rumors start appearing any day now.................

I was always more a fan of the Note series than the S series, so not likely I'll pickup a S7. The Edge is definitely the one I'd go with, if I were to consider it. I like the G5, but was disappointed in the drop to 5.3. I'll be sticking with my Mate 8 and Priv, until something truly makes it compelling enough to switch. I'm already over the novelty of the Priv. The sliding keyboard could have been done much better and without a dedicated number row, I'm finding that using the virtual keyboard is much faster to me. I kind of like the stock word prediction, but might swap to my go to keyboard in swiftkey beta.

There are a few phones I'm keeping my eye on though.
