So is it worth the extra 300 bucks for the Prime?

So assuming that it IS worth it to me to stand in line and fight the idiots at BB on black friday (lots of good people watching opportunities) do you guys think it will be worth the extra 300 bucks plus the wait for the Prime? Im currently doing alot of the things I would be doing with the prime on a 1.6ghz atom net book and pretty happy with it.

Im just not sure Im up for over 700$ after taxes and that for a tablet, if the current gen works pretty awesome. I have pretty simple expectations. Web browsing video watching, possible document writing. One thing I would really like the tablet for is for client meetings with my business ventures. There's just something about handing over a tablet full of pictures and videos of your work that really beats out huddling around a laptop.

Opinions?

Not for me. I for one will be getting the OG Transformer during black friday. :D For what I will be using it for I just can justify the extra $$$ for the Prime. Im not saying it wouldnt be nice to have much $$$ is $$$.

if you're a premier silver bestbuy rewards customer you can get the transformer today for $249 and the keyboard for $99, online only, discount shows up in cart. From noon to midnight ET.

For what I plan to use the tablet for I think waiting for the quad core tablet, hoping it doesn't have issues, is overkill. So i just got the TF1. I know the TF1 has had its bugs ironed out and perhaps hardware revisions to fix other issues. I'm not at all regretting for not waiting for the prime.

Honestly Im really having issues trying to figure out what you would do on a tablet that would require quad core? Gaming is obviously going to get more and more processor intensive, but really beyond that? Do people do graphics applications or video editing that requires the stronger processor? It seems for what tablets are meant to do quad is overkill and just un-needed. As i type that, the infamous quote of Bill Gates saying "640K ought to be enough for anybody" about ram back in the 80's rings through my head.....

Well for now you're right. Who knows what other uses tablets will develop into that will require more RAM and processing power. Perhaps the goal is to replace your gaming PC in 5 years heh. For now tho quad core is overkill.

Thats pretty much my thought. For 250$ if the thing is future proof (read: able to work :) ) for 1.5-2 years Ill be stoked.

Thanks for helping me make a decision guys!

ASUS has stated many times they will roll out ICS to the OG Transformer. Since ICS has been created to specifically take advantage of dual core processors, we should see a stellar improvement, in an already stellar performing tablet. And I full on agree with you that a tablet is great in presentations and meetings and easy to pass around.

If I can get around 350 for my OG transformer, (I know it is 250 on black friday, but that is just one day. the market will not be flooded with them.) then i will get the TF201. I plan on getting the 32gb for 500.

I am getting it mainly for the gaming and design. I hate the plastic on my TF101 and i like the thinness of the new one. It looks really cool. I am a product whore. I wont be able to unless i can sell my current one though

I'm hoping to get a total of $350 for my OG TF and dock combo. I'm mostly confident however that I'll get $300. So, I'm saving up other money (selling a few unused gadgets, etc.) to make up the $300-350 I'll be spending out of pocket to upgrade to the Prime and the new dock.

Is it worth it? I have no idea, but i'm doing it anyways. :D

I bought a "used" one at BH (customer return) in nyc the other day. $309. Was going to wait for best buy but figured the extra 60 was worth avoiding black friday crowds

BTW it's not Quad Core. It's FIVE core- one can handle 720 video, but if something is going on that needs more juice, it kicks in the quadcore. Good battery life, great power, lots of flexibility. !

Yea I didnt end up getting one last night, so I guess it is worth the extra 300$ for the prime :D Oh well I gotta couple weeks to save now

Yeah when do you think we will get the ICS update? I know its been ported already but i prefer to wait for the actual OTA from the OEM
