Help so many issues after jb update

after installing jelly bean, i now have ridiculous issues. wifi signals are now really weak, or dont connect at all.

my sd card wont mount, and isnt visible, nor is it visible after i hoot it to the computer as a mass storage device.

beyond that, i also hate so many things about jellybean. no speed dial option? why would you just get rid of a feature. its not like they made way for some other feature!? thousands of tasker things no longer work.

ohh wow. google now. thank god i know how long its going to take me to get to work in the morning.

ugh. a year of waiting for this. fml. anyone having the same wifi and sd card issues?
 
no. and i think its ridiculous that that needs to be the solution. i have to spend 10 hours of my life, re-doing everything on my phone, after installing something "official"

perhaps that will fix it. after the ICS update tho, all of the bugs i had from that, i had the suggestion to do a fdr, and wasted 10 hours of my life on something that didnt fix a thing.

10 hours at even $20 an hour is $200. i might as well go buy a new phone.

granted im exaggerating, but by the time i go through all of the ohh crap.. still need to fix that back to the way it was... its not far from 10 hours. ha.

ugh. time to bite the bullet. if everything isnt fixed tho, im holding you responsible.

There still may be JB bugs that need to be repaired.

I have no idea what your environment is or how you tweaked it. If you are un-root-ed and installing the production upgrade then a Factory Data Reset is inevitable.

If you are root-ed and/or installing something other than the production then I have no idea.

What I am passing along to you is what you see repeated over-and-over-and-over-and-over in these forums.

(The Factory Data Reset when you are not pressured to do it is the perfect opportunity to clean up that junk that you just never got around to. In short ... it's an opportunity.)

10 hours? At $20 an hour? I don't get it. I enjoy working on my phone when it's not working like anything else in life. So what if it takes some time to fix it. If only life was perfect in every way!! :)
 
because its not like i downloaded some custom ROM that i knew what i was getting into. motorola/verizon sent something out that said, here.. install this. and bang. my phone no longer works. i like customizing my phone to get it to work the way i want it to work. i dont want to spend 10 hours working on my phone just to get it back to the way it was before.

I wish there was an option to go back to how it looked before. I don't mind the new look, I just wish they wouldn't mess with the old look. That way people who like the new look can keep it there and the people who like the old look can switch back.
 
i use quickpic which imo blows away the stock gallery before and after the update. i havent found a way in the stock gallery to hide all the album covers and such in my music folder.

i think i figured out the sd card issue for now. debating a fdr for the wifi stuff... probably if i have a day that im bored ill do it.

I bet you can find a gallery app in the play store that works for you.
 
I got the notice to update but passed, my maxx is running great with ics and use foxfi a lot as tether which will no longer work after update and not interested in rooting, although i did root my incredible. I'll wait as i didn't see that much difference over gb to ics.
 
Do you always have to do the FDR after the OTA update. I just updated my non rooted phone last night, and it seems to be running fine. Everything was restored; after market launchers and all. Questions: did the motorola blur 5 screen configuration remain unchanged; and when adding widgets to home screens should things auto adjust position? I don't seem to have that???
 
Having to spend hours re-entering information, deciding which apps you do and don't to redownload, organizing, configuring. Why would Motorola assume everyone likes to doodle around on their phone for hours to what was already done? Makes me want to go back to my "dumb" phone.

I agree. It might MIGHT take me an hour to get everything but the apps back. Then i would just get the apps as needed.
 
Glad you Americans are getting JB first we in blighty can watch what happens and decide whether to bother if it ever comes over here.

And, 9x.x% of the time, everything works flawlessly and seamlessly. However, that x.x% is unpredictable, based on every single users setup, apps, etc.

I actually think being rooted makes things easier, becausei would tell you to fix permissions, wipe your cache, and enjoy! ;)
 
My Razr started out with Gingerbread and updated to ICS a month or so later. That was nearly a year ago and I would not have had a clue what FDR was at that time, I certainly didn't do it. Now there is the JellyBean update and that went great too. (I really do like the gallery better)

So my question...why is this so important? I don't have a million apps and my photos are all on dropbox, but I really don't want to do it, if I don't have to.

It's not unless you have issues. If your phone is running well, don't bother.

A small number of people will never run into any problem after the update and the Factory Data Reset will be irrelevant to them. (I worked with a user who did not know what Play Store was and had no idea that people added apps to their phone. He is one of that small group.)

For the majority of people you will eventually run into a problem and need to do a Factory Data Reset to get rid of it. It may be in a few days, weeks, or months.

The idea is to do it early on when it is convenient and operate from that point forward from a clean slate.

The decision is yours ... do it now or take your chances that it will never be needed.
