So now that its been a few weeks, hows ATT on it?

Edge best i got was a one time reading for 180kbps download 100kbps up. Next reading about 10seconds later was down to 120kbps down and same up. Switched to T-mobile this weekend and i am getting 1mbps download and upload at 1 bar. Att with full bars on iPhone is about 1.1mbps download and 600 upload. I would say edge is very noticeable, enough i am canceling my iPhone plan only 6 months into it.
 
I tested on ATT for three days and oddly enough I didn't have one dropped call. That means it's the iphone, the 3G network or both. Edge is definitely not as fast so I will probably switch to T-Mobile. It's just disappointing how little 3G coverage T-Mobile has.

Yep, no dropped calls on ATT now either. my iPhone had 3 spots on the way to work and 2 on the way home that were always trouble spots when in 3g. i'm 2 months shy of my contract being over so i'll be switching to tmo too. 7.2Mbs in Denver :) (well soon so i hear)
 
It works very nicely, I haven't minded Edge so much as I was on it for the last year and a half with my local provider, my phone gets used more than my iphone and holds a charge all day. I can't express my happiness enough with this phone, it beats my iPhone 3G hands down. I'll never go back.
 
Just registered here, this is my 1st post. (I'm a long time WM and XDA user)
I've had my Nexus w/ATT for about 2 weeks now, and I love it. Its just as good with calls as my Tilt 2 was, and a little better with signal strength in some areas.

As for Edge, I've run some side by side tests with my GF's 3GS (on 3G) and the Nexus loads basic sites (such as a google search) faster on edge than her iphone on 3G. Picture intense sites are very close. The only thing I can't compete on is youtube, and google maps. (makes sense)

Also another bonus, I just changed my $30 a month PDA data plan to a $10 a month basic data plan. ;)
 
same here... att user and experiencing great reception and call quality on my N1. So far Edge hasn't been a problem except on Google Maps... it is very slow. I am on wifi at most places so I'm good with everything.
 
No matter how people tell you it works just fine, its not. I've ordered my nexus one and have been using it for few days now. It's absolute nightmare. person who says nexus loads websites faster than 3gs, I say BS. My iphone loades engadget in 13 seconds on 3G and nexus one loaded in 48 seconds. This is not worth it. Its not personal prefernece i say this is not worth it for EVERYONE. Why get a good phone and wants to have bad experience especially those who's experience with android is first idfsdsf
 
summerboy there are tons of youtube videos showing the nexus one beating the iphone in page loads.

For the tests they use multiple sites and have side by side comparisons as well as more technical timers which they display in graph form.

If engadget loads slower (as the engagdet comparison showed) then its a problem in the code of the website and shouldnt be taken as the end all be all test.

Sooooo, the Nexus is a nightmare because it takes longer (on 2G) to load a web site than the 3GS (on 3G) ?? Yea, I can see where that makes sense.

I said the Nexus loads *basic* web sites (such as google search) faster.
And on my wifi, the Nexus wins every time on any site.

I think the videos you are referring to compare the iPhone on 3G vs the Nexus One on 3G. He is talking about the iPhone on 3G vs the Nexus One on Edge. Speaking as someone who used the Nexus One on AT&T before canceling my iPhone contract, there is no way in the entire universe that the Nexus on AT&T Edge is faster than the iPhone on 3G.

Perhaps those using the N1 on T-Mobile are not data intensive users but web browsing on Edge is painfully slow if you are accustomed to 3G speeds on any network.

EVERYONE...really....EVERYONE.....there is no 3G coverage by att where i live so the lack of 3G does not affect me at all. I would have to travel 45 min east, west or south (lake borders our north) to get 3G, so no NOT EVERYONE. I will not switch to tmobile, or verizon due to their crazy stupid rate plans. i dropped my iphone plan and got put on an unlimited data plan and am saving 20 per month, and i wont notice any difference. Nice up monkey, press the shiny one
