Root So now what?

I've seen a couple of these for other phones, but not really any over here. I just got a new phone so I wanted to root my incredible partially for fun, partially so I can experiment, but mostly because I wanted to cheat on games :p. Sorry if I'm sounding lazy but I don't really want to sort through all these threads to figure out what all these different roms do and what neat apps and programs there are...so could someone more savvy point me to some things? Pleeeeease?

What are you trying to do? Have you rooted yet? Instructions are stickied at the top of this forum.

Oh wow I failed. The whole point of this was to say that I'm rooted, so now what should I do with it, because I had seen similar threads for some other phones before. Well whatever, right now I'm working on flashing liberation so I guess I don't need a ROM at least.

There is just so much that you can do, that it would be hard to list it all... I'm sure anything you wanted to do, can be done. What did you generally have in mind? and I can probably at least point you in the right direction...

Considering that I'm in the same boat I would mainly just like free applications, lots of customization, better battery, ability to overclock etc...I am very new to android and rooting, but not really new to hacking phones overall..Still somehow don't understand the full purose of what i've done to my phone, but I am rooted fully and have S-off as of right now, but havent loaded any ROM's yet...Suggestions?
 
may I suggest cm7(latest stable or nightly). Everything works! I would also suggest cm10.1 or cm10 or even cm9! If you would like to test these here's some background. Cyanogenmod is based on Android Open Source Project(Aosp) with more customizable system. They have set it to be as close to source just with non-stock mods. CM9 brings a lot of cool stuff cm10.x+ has even more! I would greatly recommend it! Only a few things are broken in cm9+ since we had cyanogenmod drop our device as of cm7. We have to deal with(this is cm10 +) broken camera(it flickers, turning the screen off and on while in the camera app fixes it), broken camcorder(video illusions is a great camcorder replacement) some bluetooth is broken(cm10.1 I believe) nothing else that I have run into you should test it out! Also AOSP ROMs such as cyanogenmod 7 have better battery/performance! Rosie/sense interface really drags down both battery and performance! Flashing incredikernel over cm7/9/10/10.1 is highly recommended since it provides underclocking and overclocking as well as undervolting(which may save battery if done correctly)!
