So, whats everyone doing with their Nexus 7?

So this may be kinda a dumb question, but I am genuinely curious. Whats everyone doing with their N7? My fiance bought be a Nexus 7 a few weeks ago so I would have something to read, play games, etc when we go on vacation. I just finished loading up a mega F-ton of books and some music, and a handful of games, some of which I already had on my Rezound. Now I'm kinda like, now what? I have a labtop which i watch movies, games etc, and I've got the phone to do all my mobile activities, so now I'm just wondering if there is some great thing I can do with my N7 that I'm missing out on. :)

I use the tapatalk app to go on forums like this...

My kids are loving the free kids books and how to read apps.

I downloaded a number of programming tutorials which I am hitting up in spare time.

The currents app is great for staying current with world news.

Customizing and tweaking the n7 with various custom rooms can be fun. I have settled with paranoid for the time being.

I typically prefer Facebook on my tablet now, unless I have something long to type.

There is so much more.. my n7 eve doubles as a peaceful alarm clock and guitar tuner... I have barely owned it a week.

I use mine for reading, surfing the Web, playing games, watching Netflix. Sometimes I use Google Play to listen to music.

My main applications are:

Navigation within the car (have no nav system) and plan trips
Phone calls with VoIP (GrooveIP)
Check mail when on the go
Watch TV news of my local stations in Europe
Watch old TV shows and Comics
Listen to Scanner Radio - mostly airports
Watch and listen to my own Music and Video files when on the go

all depends on your purpose actually. using a laptop for intensive applications like office, making a powerpoint presenations, although you can find good quality office applications in the play store they dont quite satisfy you as working on a real pc thats what i think about it.

I like to read or play games in the bathroom, who doesnt? I cant take my pc there although i can take my cell phone but I feel taking a tablet is a new level during no2 :P

games i enjoy recently are shadowgun dead zone and sketch online both are multiplayer games and very nice one you got a good internet connection.

watching movies or tv shows in bed is now easier than before using a tablet but if you fall asleep take care the tablet wont hit your face! always happening to me.

if you got an OTG that would help you alot and you dont have to root to plug in a memory stick or even a mouse or keyboard.

everyone here mentioned almost everything you can do with a nexus 7 thats it i guess.

any other thoughts?

I use it principally for reading ebooks with Aldiko. I used to use a Kindle, but the N7 is far better as the screen shows a lot more text at a time (even though the e-Ink screen on the Kindle is fantastic!).

eBooks, Games (although it's mainly my 4 year old playing Subway Surfers), web browsing and potentially movies etc if it's quiet at work at night. If the Mrs is watching some pointless on TV, I can whip the tab out and do whatever on that instead.

Also, whilst my phone is in for repair, it's also in my bag and used as an MP3 player.

Not sure if it was the N7, but I've seen one guy use a similarly sized device at the gym to watch movies whilst on the running machine/bikes. :p

Mainly reading, not just ebooks but online short stories as well. It's like a Kindle Fire for me with tweakability. I like not being tied to Amazon's ecosystem so I can get books from B&N, Smashwords, etc.

I also use it for light online stuff; Twitter, IMDB, email, etc.

My number one use of my N7 is as a bathroom reader/game player. I also keep it beside me while watching TV so I can google something if I feel the need.

My phone can do everything my N7 can do (and more, albeit with a smaller screen), has more storage and is much more portable so I rarely take the N7 with me when I leave the house.

When at home, I prefer to sit at my desktop to do any computing tasks rather than use the N7.

When I travel, I take my N7 and my netbook but the netbook is much more capable so it gets more use than the N7. I mostly take the N7 as a backup so that if the battery on the netbook dies I can switch to the N7.

I love my N7 but I really don't have a strong need for a tablet, I just wanted one because they're cool.

1. quick access to work files via Dropbox (check out my sig). everyone should get this.

2. read news and articles

3. watch movies/shows when out... like at the gym

4. play games.

5. my kid loves to play on it... network games with her cousins.

Simple browsing of the web, Communications for email, texting, facebook etc, games, ebook reading.
It has all but replaced my quick-use on my phone and laptop. If I need to grab and go info or communications, I used to struggle to see on my phone, or boot up my laptop. Now I just grab my grouper and I'm there.
I love this thing.

Alarm clock in the morning. Its actually a big deal for me. I have very complicated morning schedules throughout the week and weekends so I need a very robust varied alarm. It also provides me a quick way to check on traffic before I leave when I decide if I should drive or take the train.

It replaces my car stereo (actually it replaces the thumb drive that I use to play music through the car and now I use BT via my nexus since it can auto sync when I turn on the ignition and start up powerAmp by using tasker). I do not use my N7 for navigation however because my car has a much better system.

When I'm in the field taking photos, I like to plug the camera into my N7 to preview photos and do simple touch ups. google maps is a godsend on travel, offline and online.

And then all the usual in-flight entertainment, reading because my eyes suck and I'm too vain to get reading glasses.

I was in the same situation you were. About a month after I bought my Motorola Xoom, it did a lot of time sitting on the counter. I had played with it a bunch at first, then it got used less and less. However, as time has gone on, my wife and I are always fighting for time on it. So, recently I puchased a N7 for her.

I like to think I do a lot on my N7.... Here's some examples of how I've been using it lately:

-ebooks (B&N, Amazon, Google Books)
-games (Shadow gun, Angry Birds Space)
-Magazines (X-Box magazine)
-google+
-Currents(Great app that comes pre-installed) for browsing sites like a magazine but you need to be on WiFi or 3G...
-Facebook / Twitter
-movies (so far I have Tron Legacy, Transformers Dark of the Moon and the new Total Recall)
-Youtube (mostly mobile tech stuff)
-web browsing
-Tapatalk for forums...
-I use the Google calendar and sync to my Droid Bionic phone...
-was playing ingress on phone and found that I could track my team's activity on map on N7
-email
And that's about it....

Keeps me pretty busy though. :-)

Just wanted to say thanks for all the ideas from everyone. It seems like everyone is essentially using their N7's as a ultra portable laptop/reader with a few bells and whistles. Sadly (or not so much since im with Verizon), I don;t have the data capable version, so many of the things I would like to do (netflix, hulu, hbo go) I won;t be able to do unless wi fi is available. It seems like my original thoughts of using it for books and games and occasional movies while specifically away on vacation is probably the way to go. That said, I wish i could track down some "free" copies of the old justice league cartoons, that would definitely be fun to watch on the N7.

There are cartoons on Watch TV. Not sure whether they have the ones you are looking for. I always like to watch Tom and Jerry there.

you are on verizon.. do you have the tiered data plan??
if so, you can tether your phone to the N7.. and use the data plan.

if you are unlimited.. you have to pay to hotspot from your cell.
or
root and use a free tethering app.

In the morning, I read a few scriptures (which are delivered daily via 2 apps by the same dev: Wise Proverbs and Words of Jesus Daily) and then I move on to check my 6 email accounts. Of course, this is all done in bed before my feet hit the ground...takes 5 minutes, tops, though. Then, I get up, grab my coffee and read the morning news via Flipboard or the (Google) Reader app (also read the happenings on my favorite blogs). While in Flipboard, I sometimes read my Twitter feed or I head over to UberSocial and read there. I also take a peek at Instagram. If I have time, I might even play around with Words with Friends, Ruzzle or Diamond Breaker before starting my day.

In the evening, I use it to read an ebook (usually a freebie from the library) on the Kindle app before spending a few hours watching tv via XBMC. While I also have XBMC on a dedicated laptop, I find it's actually a lot easier to watch on my tablet.

Of course, I also use it to place calls (GrooveIP), send/receive sms messages (Google Voice) and video chat (Google Talk).

When my laptop is not on (evenings and weekends), I also use it to check up on some of my favorite forums, look up random tidbits, etc.

BTW, this is my first post...nice to meet you all.
