Im at work, and dont have time to sift through all the info recently posted.

Is 2.2 out anywhere ?

When is it expected for rogers?

Should i just debrand and root/flash to 2.2?

Does anyone know how to tell if any of these ROMS are real 2.3, 2.2 etc? I'm just trying to get the idea of how these get made. Are they really just 2.1 ROMs adapted with a bunch of extra features to make it a 2.2? Or do they take an actual 2.2 ROM from some other phone and then adapt the X10 files/code etc into it? I mean since everything can be manipulated and changed, whats to say the 2.3 etc. in the "about phone" isnt just typed in there?

I don't know how you could check - but i am sure that - so far - these are all custom/built. As i understand it, we will not have a "real" 2.2+ until someone cracks the bootloader (whatever that thing is - it's a tough nut!). So i would assume that all current custom roms are built on top of the underlying 2.1 android os (i'm pretty sure that is the case)

2.2 for every day use as there are still some things with the 2.3 ROMs that need to be sorted out. They are fairly stable but the 2.2 ROMs generally have more functionality for daily use than the 2.3 ROMs.

So, 2.2 for use and 2.3 for testing. With xRecovery you could be trying both out though. ;)
