So Why Does Everybody Seem to Hate Motoblur?

One of the major things I hear that are anti-Atrix is that Motoblur is awful. What exactly makes it so terrible?

I just switch from an Inspire to the Atrix and was concerned about Motoblur after reading all the complaints. Maybe I'm missing something, but if you don't sign up for any of the various accounts (FB, twitter) through motoblur it leaves you alone. The only account I signed on to through mb was Google. I installed the FB app straight from the market and didn't register for the motoblur FB and it hasn't screwed with my contacts, slowed me down or caused any issues. I can't even tell it's on the phone.

I registered through motoblur too but now would like to disable or unsubscribe my fb through it, is there a way?

Try the "Accounts" application. Installed through blur, it lets you manage your accounts you activated.

Oh, and btw, about blur..

I really don't mind it that much, but I switched to LP Plus on the second day, and haven't looked back since.

I respect blur though, I honestly don't think it's completely crappy. I just think it's a little laggy (at times) and doesn't let you customize very much, if anything.

LP Plus on the other hand, let's you really get into the nitty gritty of how the launcher operates. Lots of little effects can be tweaked to your preference.

Also, extremely smooth on LP Plus.

Really, my biggest specific complaint about blur was the two big buttons for phone and contacts. Not only were they sort of a waste of space, but they weren't customizable. So, if you didn't want a shortcut directly to contacts, and the other to the phone application, oh well.

Either way, the phone is awesome! xD

After a week, I only have one real problem with Blur (just understand that I installed Launcher Pro after the second day).

I want an email widget to display all of my emails. This appears to be much harder that I anticipated, as Motoblur looks down the email accounts so that external apps can't poll them.

I really don't understand why this is so.

I have been able to do a work-around using K-9 and Email Widget, but it requires me to install Email Widget as a system app. When I did that, the fingerprint scanner stopped working. I can still get into the using the pin code, but the fingerprint reader appears to be dead.

I realize that the fingerprint problem is caused by something that I did, so that it is my own fault, but I don't understand why Motorola makes it so hard.

Launcher Pro has a fabulous calender widget. All I want is the same type widget for email. But it seems that Motorola makes it too hard.

Maybe they have their reasons, but it sure seems to me that Motorola is making this way harder than it has to be.

I'm right there with you. I see no major hindrance.

The hate is way overblown. That's all there is to it. There's some great things about it, some not so great things about it. There are no huge glaring issues. The hate comes from a handful of loud power users who are super whiny, nothing more, nothing less.

I registered my FB through motoblur and it's not that bad. I came from a BB3G and I like how all my FB contacts became my phone contacts.
