Root Soft-Brick help?

So I switched carriers not long ago, and was going to use my ZTE Zmax as a gaming phone for my kids. There was a notification to install updates, and I tapped it without thinking. It ran and ran, and eventually just stopped. I can now only access system recovery and the Zmax splash screen.

I tried to wipe data/factory reset to no avail. I also wiped the cache. Doesn't change anything. Rebooting the system only takes me to the splash screen at which point the only thing I can do is wait for the battery to die before restarting it. I'd like to flash a stock ROM or a new ROM if possible, but I have never had to do this before. Any help is appreciated!!!

If your phone wasn't rooted then there is no fix for your problem. Also, if your phone wasn't rooted and it got bricked while installing an update then this would be a warranty issue if the phone was purchased in the last 12 months
