Help Soft Keys Background No Longer Transparent!?

I realized this morning that my soft keys (back, home, multitask) on my stock (no launcher), non-rooted moto x now have a black background instead of a transparent background on my homescreen.

How could this have happened? I didn't change any settings. This goes for any wallpaper (built-in or not).

Any help would be welcome. Thanks!

Try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them). If it reverts then it was caused by an app that you added.

It looks like if I use any backgrounds/wallpapers app, this happens. Running in Safe Mode helped me "debug" this.

I wonder if others are having the same issue? If so, maybe it should be reported as a bug.

i dont see how an app would mess with this, on the Gnex we were able to mess with it when it was rooted but a moto device having this happen is pretty strange.

Definitely strange. Maybe it has to do with the aspect ratio of setting a wallpaper within the app (Backgrounds & Picspeed)?

The strange thing is, I can delete the app, set a new stock wallpaper, and the transparent soft keys don't return until I reboot.

I've read this can be kinda flakey -- as in it doesnt work across all apps, personally I like the black though.

Anyways, it looks like this will be a part of stock Android in KitKat
