Help Software update....did I goof up?

I went into settings and clicked on "software update", and it flashed a window that said something like "communicating with server" for a while. I wanted to see if I could do anything else while it was connecting and went back to my home screen. Now when I try to go back into software update it flashed up a small window that says "connecting to DM server, please wait" that dissapears after a couple of seconds.

Did I mess something up by going back to the home screen?

No. It will come up after a while and say "No Updates Found" or "Communication Failed." This is normal. Your phone is just querying the server, sometimes this takes longer than other times, sometimes it fails, it's just a crapshoot.

Try again in 24 hours or clear the DM Server Cache by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Apps>Hit Menu Button>Filter>Running, go down to Device Management>Clear Cache, then restart your phone and try checking for updates again after a few minutes.

Ok, thanks. I'll either try it again tonight or just try hooking it up to Keis Mini, which I downloaded last night but haven't tried yet.

Is one way (OTA vs. Kies) better than antoher for getting upgrades?

What OS is your computer? People are having issues with Win7 (myself included) and Kies. I prefer OTA.

I dowloaded it to my Win 7 PC, but I also have access to an XP and Vista PC.

I guess I'll give OTA another go tonight (I never was able to reset the time counter....the "clear cache" button was disabled but I had already powered down and back on before I checked). I got kind of worried when it seemed to be taking forever to connect OTA.

Ok. Thanks.

I did manage to get past what I was seeing before. Now I'm getting a communication error message. Looks like I'm on the current version, though, so a moot point for now.
