Help Software Update error?

Taffy52

Lurker
I am newly working out how to use my new Galaxy 10.1tab. Today could not access App Market. message said client not up to date. I downloadeda software update fro Samsung! but still not connecting from the launcher icon. Any idea why this is! What to do about it? Message comes up it will be updated but then nothing happens.

I also thought had downladed Netflix app a coupleof days ago, but Netflix content will not launch though when looked up on App storewebsite through my browser, it confirmed I had downloaded it. I cannot find a file for Netflix when look it up in data manager files.

I am feeling a bit technicaly challenged, here. Please help!

Hi,

Also new to android and tablets and experiencing the same issue now with Market.
it says "your client is out of date. it will be automatically updated shortly"
however nothing happens.

Anyone have any idea how to sort this out?

Ok found the solution...

Did a software upgrade on the tablet itself, once that update completed my market worked again.

Last night I tried to connect to the market and it wouldn't. Turns out it was the market software that was updating. Once it updated I was able to connect no problem.

Updating the firmware on the tablet will work as stated above.

When you get errors saying "client not up to date" keep in mind the tablet (android os) is the client, not the app your trying to install/update.

Great, does that involve connecting it to Kies?

Between my two Win7 boxes (one 32 and one 64 bit) and OSX Lion machine, all 3 of them fail to be able to connect to Kies.

It seems like the first time you EVER connect the device to Kies it works, but as soon as the Galaxy's firmware is updated from whatever it ships with - it completely loses it's ability to connect to Kies.

Ive NEVER wanted to be one of 'those people' but as much of a pain in the arse as it is to do anything with this thing, as much as I like the idea of it, I really have to consider switching to a stupid apple device.

But im going to give this whole fiasco a few more days of effort before sending it back. Uninstalling and reinstalling Kies doesn't seem to help, restarting the Galaxy itself doesn't help, trying to connect the Galaxy to an older un-updated version of Kies isn't working. Honestly I think your one of the lucky ones if yours just works the way it should all the time, and not the other way around.

edited to add: yes, im dealing with the same issues connecting to Market. im only ranting about the stupid Kies thing because it seems that this issue is now being compounded on an existing issue I was hoping didn't matter (I thought I could live with never connecting it to my computer, or Kies anyway.)

I'm not sure what is going on. My market app has been saying "Your client is out-of-date" for the last 2 days. There is no Samsung update.

I'll guess I will wait to see what it does.

I was wondering if something went awry when downloaded the update. It occurred to me that maybe my WiFi internet connection dropped out during the download, but when checking if could reset and download the software again, it will not let me try that....Is it also necessary to prevent the WiFi from going into sleep mode to get software updates without these glitches?

At least I know I am not alone in not being able to connect to Market app.

Any guesses how long it could take to get Android Market & Samsung talking to each other again?

I see this is something in my settings, but what is it, and do I need this?

Kies, put simply, is Samsung's version of iTunes. Why they chose to give it a name that noone can pronounce is beyond me. You use it to manage media on your device by either connecting it to your computer via USB, or over wifi using the Kies settings in the wireless area of your tablet. It's crummy software that doesn't do much and breaks half the time.

I finally found a solution to fix it...

How I finally found it is complex to explain, but it comes down to change some settings and Market app will update itself:

- Settings
- accounts & sync
- enable option 'Background data'

That fixed it for me.

How do you do an upgrade the software on the Samsung galaxy 10.1 tablet to make the market app not keep saying the client is out-of-date?
.

download the latest apk from a reliable source and run it. the easiest way is to download it on your desktop to a dropbox folder and then open it up from the dropbox folder. All hail dropbox, the solver of problems. Just google it, xda developers should have a clean version.
