Software update error

Tipton19

Lurker
Hey, first time poster but long time browser. Got a tmobile GS3 last week and the phone is great. As I attempted to update the software to the newly acquired version today it downloads fine, but once that's done and it asks me to proceed, " update failed. your device will recover the original configuration" pops up and im back to square one.

Have made about five different attempts, with/without wifi, with/without lookout running, I've reset, etc.. and it's the same thing. I'm stumped lol, any and all replies are greatly appreciated.

Try resetting "Google services Framework"

Applications > Settings > Applications > tap on "All" and find "Google services Framework" and tap on "Clear data" (DO NOT "FORCE STOP or "DISABLE"!!!!!)

and try again.

If not, try using Samsung KIES.

Thanks for the suggestions. Attempted clearing the google services frame, and it's the same thing. How exactly would i use samsung kies to get it, such a novice with this stuff lol.

Is the phone rooted and a different Recovery on it like CWM? If so you will need to go back to Stock Recovery before it will work.

install samsung kies on ure pc and connect the phone it should auto detect the phone and install the required drivers, after which you can update to the latest firmware via kies.
