I run a Coolpad 3300A smartphone and replaced the Chinese made on-screen keyboard with GBoard, the Google Keyboard.
Along came this upgrade containing 100 new emojis. I avoided that upgrade for a time, but "what if I am blocking a security patch too?" crossed my mind so I let the upgrade do its thing.
I do NOT use them, I do not want a screen full of them to choose from. I do not want a key devoted to displaying them, either. Especially in the place of the Return key.
I often begin a message text to read:
.
I want the full QWERTY keyboard, I do not use left-hand or right-hand feature, for I do a single-finger style of typing on my phone. And if I "swipe" at a keystroke, I end up with more unexpected rubbish in my message. Therefore I don't try.
I also wish there was a forward delete key to be a quick fix if I land on the wrong side of a mistake when trying to spot the cursor.
I use the screen always in Portrait mode, for it tends to flip unpredictably relative to me when I least expect it.
Thanks for any advice. My title was chosen as the Google search I was using, adding "Full Stop" to the search I'd used.

Hi Buddy,|
(I want to type here, but I have an emoji key in the place of Return!)
In Settings I did everything I could to avoid emojis. Then either I have an emoji key take place of my often-used RETURN key, or I have the smiley-face double with the comma. If I want an emoticon, I type the "sideways smiley," using colon and parenthesis. In here that results in (I want to type here, but I have an emoji key in the place of Return!)
