Help [Solved] Galaxy Note 4 going nuts

Amberdrop

Newbie
Hi guys,
I have a Samsung Note 4 (marshmallow). Everything was fine until an hour ago when it started crashing back to home screen no matter what you click on (a game, an app, contacts - whatever). You click on something, the screen goes black for a second and goes back to the home screen. I've restarted the phone, worked for 2 seconds, then the same started happening. I've taken the battery out and back in. I managed to open a new email via the notification bar and that's about it. I've wiped the phone's cache - nothing. Don't wanna do a factory reset yet. Any ideas?

Spoil Sport, you already did what I would suggest.

When you pulled the battery, did you leave it out for many minutes? I have found that the phone's static RAM can retain bad info for longer than we expect... I once repaired my phone by waiting about 5+ minutes....

and when that failed, I had to do the Factory Reset, which as you know, means many hours of work getting back to normal again. ( is there any such thing? )

For non-rooted phones, the FDR is a real PITA. We can use backups for the images, documents, videos... but all of the app pertinent setup info goes flying out the window.

From what you have said, FDR is all you have left.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I was about to do the FDR but then - bam - logic. I feel so stupid now (I'm a girl - don't judge lol). It was the Hola launcher that went nuts on me out of the blue. This is the first time I've seen the Marshmallow TouchWiz on my phone and it has never been so smooth :D I hate launchers...

TouchWiz has its' merits.

I think though, that you really should investigate Nova Launcher prime.
It takes TouchWiz to a whole new level, allowing you to create Folders to place similar apps inside it.

I have one page setup just for folders, Tools, Internet, GPS, News, WiFi, Cameras ( a lot of them )

My main home page has only the things we all need in everyday life, which will be different for everyone in the world.

Mine looks like this:
