Try doing a long press on the photo that you wish to delete. A pop up window should appear with the option to delete. Good Luck!

I tried that and still does not give me an option to delete the damn photo....I even tried factory reset..and voila the pic still there !!! 
the reason i want to delete that photo is because it was the first photo i took of myself as soon as i got the new phone to test it out..and i hate the photo i look terrible..... PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!

OK I FOUND THE ANSWER !!!!!!!
in order to delete the photo from Instant Gallery on your Galaxy S3, you have to do it through Picasa Web Google albums!!!! Sign in to Picasa web then select your album, delete it, and refresh your albums in your galaxy s3 and the photo is gone!!!!!!!!
