Apps [SOLVED] [newbie] Uploading app to tablet through USB?

Hello

I'm only getting started writing Android applications, and am stuck at how to connect a couple of Android tablets (one from Medion, the other from Archos) to Windows (XP and 7) so that Basic4Android can upload applications.

When I connect those tablets, Windows just adds them as external drives.

I guess the AVD Manager is only used to create emulators, not connect an Android device to Windows through USB. Do I need to run another SDK application? Install a specific USB driver?

When I get ready to test an app out on a device, I export the apk and e-mail it to an account that is synced on that device. I install and test from there.

You need to enable "Settings-> Applications-> Development-> USB Debugging" on your phone and then it should work the same as on the emulator.

Thanks for the tip. When enabling "USB Debugging" on the device, Windows prompts for the Android Debug Bridge driver.

Now, I'll have to find how to upload the application from Windows to the device, as the IDE triggers an error: "No device found".

You need to start up the Android SDK manager tool, the windows USB driver is an option near the bottom of the list. If that doesn't work then try installing the drivers from your tablet manufacturer.

Thanks for the tip. Turns out that the device required editing %USERPROFILE%\.android\adb_usb.ini and rebooting the B4A IDE. I successfully uplodated "Hello, world" to the tablet.
