Help <Solved> Share S3 wifi with iPad via Bluetooth ?

I travel a lot and I used onboard wifi on most flights I am on.

I have my S3 that I mainly use for Whatsapp during the flights and my iPad that I use for web surfing etc. etc. There is no Whatsapp app for iPad :(

When I purchase a wifi plan I can only use one device or the other, not both at the same time.

Is there a way I can log onto the wifi network with my S3 (enabling Whatsapp on the phone) and then share that connection via Bluetooth with my ipad?

You can turn the S3 into a hotspot and WiFi the ipad to it. That gives you tinterwebs access (internet) on the ipad.

I doubt you could share WhatsApp from the S3 to the list ipad over it (or bluetooth for that matter) though. It would need to be installed on the ipad but once it's on it can share the Internet via the hotspot.

I don't think it is possible to "hotspot" a wifi connection. Remember I am connecting the S3 via wifi not 3G or LTE !

I am not trying to "share" Whatsapp. I just want to run it on the phone. The ipad would be used for other Internet activity.

Maybe it's different for you in the USA. I think I get your predicament.

As the S3 only has one WiFi adapter, once it's connected to the WiFi source, you can't share that connection via hotspot (in the UK we can freely hotspot on all (?) carriers through 3/4g) to share the connection you'd need another WiFi adapter.

However, going to settings > more settings > tethering & portable hotspot - you can tick on bluetooth tethering there to enable your S3 to share your WiFi over bluetooth. If your ipad will support it or not is a different matter entirely.

Oddly enough this is working now. I turned on Airplane mode on the S3, enabled wifi and connected to my home network. Turned on Bluetooth tethering and connected the iPad...voila..Internet on both devices through one wifi connection :-)
I had tried it at an airport before but it didn't work and I gave up back then.
Anyways...thanks a bunch !!

Enabling and then disabling airplane mode can fix a few radio / apn issues. It's a nice top to remember.

Friend of mine had no apn listed on his settings page, to be able to edit it and correct it. This tip sorted that out too. :)
