Help (Solved) Sometimes my phone says sd card has been removed.

It says this, then a few seconds later it is detected again. It's happened a few times when I took a picture, so the camera saved to internal memory instead.

Could be a defective card, could be dirty contacts on the card, could be dirty contacts on the phone, could be a defective socket ... too many "ifs" to really diagnose here.

Well since the phone and card are brand new, I'm hoping it was just a software glitch. If it keeps happening, I'll exchange the memory card for a new one to see if that's the problem. If not, I have a protection/replacement plan on the phone. It hasn't happened again and it's been several days so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I added a no-name Chinese website SD card to my Centura, and started getting random notices that the SD card had been removed, warning to unmount the card before removing it.

I suspect the card was flaky; I'd used it previously as a 'Ready Boost' card on a Win7 laptop, and the laptop would randomly pop up notice of having the card inserted...when it'd been in there for weeks.

*On the Centura,* I installed an offline-maps nav program, and directed it to use the SD for storage. Using this same flaky card, the nav program never seemed to complete downloading all the maps I designated.

Grabbed a new PNY brand card from Kmart, popped it in the Centura, and haven't had any more 'unmount before removing' notices, AND the offline nav program successfully downloaded all the maps (the entire continental US, a gig or so).

So, in my case, the Centura mount/unmount error messages and app malfunctions were eliminated by changing the SD card.

Hey, I didn't see this when it was new but I can add that my Centura did the same thing randomly. I really feel that 90% of the Centura's problems are from low RAM. The same cards never give any trouble with my S3.

Which now I just remembered that you also got a different phone, now. I assume it doesn't do the same thing with the same card.

I have a Moto G so it doesn't even have a SD slot. No big deal since I have all my music on Google play now and I also upload all my photos to Google + Photos. The Centura is definitely a buggy phone maybe it is the RAM.

jmcook79: What 'solved' this issue for you?

I just put solved in the subject because it never happened again.
