Help Some apps deleted after reboot

The phone became sluggish. I rebooted. After reboot, some of my apps were gone.

I opened Application Manager. It appears the apps got deleted became "com.(developer's name).(app's name)" and 0.00B.

I tried to install one app which got deleted. It failed. (Error code: -110)

What's wrong? How could I get back the apps, data and settings?

I have no SD card.
It is Samsung Galaxy Note 2, not rooted.
Please help. Thanks a lot.

Had something similar happen to me a few months ago. It was recommended to do a cache wipe in recovery. Fixed the problem.

I followed this method to wipe the cache partition. Unfortunately it does not help to get my apps back, nor I can install them again from Google Play. (Error code: -110)

If you have problems with your Android device including the dreaded Black Screen of Death you may be told to WIPE THE CACHE PARTITION. On a Samsung Galaxy S6, you can do this by:
  1. powering off the device
  2. press the VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER buttons all the same time and HOLD THEM DOWN
  3. release only the POWER button when the device vibrates
  4. release the other buttons when the ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY screen appears
  5. using the VOLUME DOWN / UP buttons to navigate, select WIPE CACHE PARTITION
  6. press the POWER button, which will act the ENTER key on your keyboard
  7. you will likely see some progress notes (at the bottom of the screen in small print) and after about 20 seconds it will likely show DONE
  8. you can then reboot the device and see if your problems are fixed

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a possible solution. I've been there, banging my head on the table a few times so I know the frustration.

I tried all methods. None works. :-(
I tried to install via Google Play or the apk files. None works.

How could I backup the data and settings of those apps?
I browsed the phone folders from the computer (Windows). Some folders are empty. I guess the files of those folders are hidden. I couldn't backup the data.

The system looks unstable. I couldn't reinstall those unrecoverable apps. I would like to backup data and do a factory reset.
But how could I backup those app data? The app data are still there, but the apps are unrecoverable.

I tried Helium which states it can backup app data without root access. Unfortunately those apps which got deleted mysteriously were not on the backup list.

Titanium Backup needs root access. I've never rooted before.
What's the easiest way to root my phone? Thank you.

My guess is that the apps were only partially deleted (especially if their data are still present), which interferes with reinstalling them. Just a guess though. Did these apps have anything in common, e.g. were apps you had moved to sd?

I don't know about rooting this phone (rooting methods depend on the device, sometimes on software version), but don't guarantee that Titanium will be able to back up the data if the app does not appear to be installed. Of course root would give you access to the folder where app data live (/data/data/<application>), and maybe other options (e.g. if you can install a custom recovery without resetting the phone in the process you may be able to take a recovery backup, then extract app data from that with the paid version of Titanium). But I cannot give any guarantees.

Hadron don't forget your double post :P

No. I don't have SD card in this phone.
Different kinds of apps got deleted.

I think the best bet is to backup all folders and files (including hidden ones). Do you know how?

Stuff on the user partition (/sdcard, also known as /storage/emulated/0, what you can see with a file browser on an unrooted phone) you should be able to just copy over USB. If you set your file explorer to show hidden files they should be included (these will be files or folders whose names start with a ".").

The trickier on is internal app data, i.e. stuff in /data/data. The problem here is that without root privileges you don't have access to that partition at all. In principle you can use "adb backup" to back such stuff up (with USB debugging enabled). The catch is that I don't know whether it will get data belonging to uninstalled apps - I'm pretty sure that Helium uses this, so if it isn't finding the data from those apps it's likely that using adb backup directly will do the same (not certain, just a suspicion). I don't think you'll be able to just copy stuff from there using "adb pull" without root access, though I guess you could try it (e.g. "adb pull /data/data" - can't do any harm, but I'm pretty sure it won't work). If you want to try with adb we have a FAQ on how to install it here: http://androidforums.com/threads/adb-guide-updated-2014-11-11.443072/
