Some apps disappear after Jelly Bean update?

tbessie

Newbie
Hi folks...

I noticed that after I updated my Galaxy Nexus to Jelly Bean (via the OTA update), the count of apps on the phone dropped by 2 or 3.

Anyway notice that? Are these apps that were removed from Android itself, or apps that maybe were marked by Google as having problems under Jelly Bean?

Trying to figure out what went away. :-)

Hey Tbessie, I moved this thread onto the Nexus forum so that other Nexus users can post their tips to help, in this thread.:)

Thanks, damewolf - wasn't sure where the right place to put it would be, thought it might be more general than Galaxy Nexus. :-)

More likely they are apps that simply are not compatible with JB yet.

How would you find out which apps are still installed on your device but aren't compatible? Are they uninstalled during the update? What might've happened to them then?

Only real way is to review your full list of apps via the Play Store. I use the AppBrain app which keeps a list and timeline of installs, updates and uninstalls for this very reason.

Based on my recent update to Jellybean I'd guess that one of the apps that disappeared for you would be Google Voice Search?

Hmm, I'll take a look at that AppBrain app.

Google Voice Search is still there, from what I can tell - at least, "Voice Search" is still on the screen, as it was before. It behaves slightly differently, but is there. I didn't sign up for the newer/shinier voice search feature (Siri competitor I guess) that I was asked about when it first rebooted.
