Some apps getting killed

I have a Verizon Samsung galaxy S3 that works great for the most part except this one issue. Basically, some apps are getting killed when I hit the S3 home button. Specifically the SiriusXm and Stitcher apps I use.

However, this doesn't happen with some other apps I use frequently; spotify and tunein. They will keep running fine if I hit the S3 home button (& use other apps; email, text, etc.)

Any idea why certain ones will keep working while others stop. This didn't happen on my previous Motorola BIONIC smartphone so I am thinking its simply a setting of some kind.

Android memory management is complicated. Apps associated with a service can grab higher priority.
I think maybe you can help prevent particular apps from being killed if you convert those apps to system apps using titanium backup
