Some contacts wont sync....

I know there are similar threads around and this is more a question on how to prevent than an "im stuck question"

New to Android and I would call it a teething problem.

Some of my contact sync without problem. About 5 haven't.
I went
Contacts>
Export from sim> and bingo most of them went.

Does this mean the ones that havent have been saved to the phone?

I have played with my phone for about half an hour and cant work out how to change it when you open the contact to "save to sim"

Is it better to just re enter the 5 contacts again and save to sim instead of phone.

Ok I re entered them and saved them into the sim then imported them.

Is there any way to change where they are saved without re entering them?

One more thing:

If I something happens ans I lose my phone etc, How do you put your google contacts into your phone?

thanks/...

Exporting contacts to sd then re-importing them lets you change phone vs google. Not sure about SIM - I basically stopped using the SIM for contacts storage about a decade ago, and I think Google view it that way as well.

If your Google contacts are synced then if you buy a new phone and sign in to it using your gmail login it will load the contacts to the new phone.
