Some novice questions

I'm a computer programmer but to be honest I know nothing 'bout tabs.I'd be grateful if u answer my questions:

1.Does a tab consist of more than a single OS?(e.g. Window+Android)

2.I saw one of my friends carrying a tab where there are two OSs.Press a button and it turns into a windows pc from android(Like a 7'' version of a laptop). Is that a tab or something else?

Tabs tend to only run one OS.

It sounds like your friend has one of the new windows tablets running Win8. That version of windows has a 'touch' optimised interface as well as a more traditional windows interface.

Opinion differs about how well that works. Most people with non-touch PCs do not appear to like it too much and there aren't too many people around with the windows tablets to get much of an idea how well it works as a tablet OS.

My own view is it's quite a nice idea that is going to die on it's derriere because of utterly dreadful pricing: the windows tablets are pretty expensive for a (low end) laptop and extraordinarily expensive for a tablet. In most cases, it's cheaper to buy a regular laptop and a regular tablet - hardly a surprise that MS (and other manufacturers) are really struggling to make sales.

There are other issues around splitting the already tiny market into WinTel and WinAMD with incompatible apps. That's just plain absurd and makes a nonsense of the whole idea.
