Some people will never be pleased....

IOWA

Mr. Logic Pants
Hi. I have been with Sprint for years. Always been pretty satisfied. I want an Android phone but am not thrilled with any of Sprint's offerings. I looked at the Moment but its OS is outdated-should have Android 2.0. Any idea when Sprint will update it? Any idea if any other androids are coming out? A local Sprint rep told me they are getting a new Blackberry but would not elaborate further. My contract has been over. I am looking at T-Mobile because of 140 for unlimited EVERYTHING for 2-line family. BUT, they demand full retail for phones with that plan. So I am in limbo between Sprint and T-Mobile. I would appreciate your input. Thanks!

Some people you cannot please.

Should have 2.0? 2.0 was JUST RELEASED. There is only ONE PHONE with 2.0. When Windows 7 came out should all PCS in production be IMMEDIATELY switched to 2.0? The OS is by no means "out-dated" as the differences between 1.5 and 2.0 are minimal, although a few bug fixes. You want your phone to clean the house and cut your grass too? Sometimes I don't understand how or why people demand so much from the mobile industry and no other industry. It's the fastest moving industry in the world and still no-one is satisfied. You guys need to remember, phones take months upon months of development. 1.5 is what was available to Samsung to work with, and they did what they could, and the 2.0.1 upgrade is on the way. Sooner than latter we hope.

Agree. I think newbies with unrealistic expectations of smartphones are generating a lot of the current complaints, which of course exist with every single other phone platform out there.

I would guess a lot of this is due to the very nature of the business. The faster phones come out (pretty darn fast these days), the faster people expect updates. I'm a somewhat impatient person myself but even I can see that expecting 2.0 right away is maybe a tad demanding. I'm just glad I did manage to get 1.6 relatively right out of the shoot (less than 24 hrs from activation). What I got is working fine so I will look forward to 2.0 whenever it does show up. :)

The reason I will swap out my treo 755 is to get new apps or to have to carry fewer devices around. At a minimum 1.6 is necessary to run Google nav which works a ton better than Sprint nav. I have only seen good ASR on Droid, so I don't know if it is OS related. A high res camera means 1 less device to carry around.

None of these 3 features is on any of the Sprint phones. I understand updating can be a pain, but isn't that what manufacturers do to get market share. Of course customer service is important too. That would require a target date for upgrades which hasn't been seen either.

Be well- happy & healthy 2010

Lets be real here, a phone cam isnt going to replace a real digital camera until they start putting High quality lenses in, you could have 100mp camera on your phone but that isnt worth a thing unless you have a proper lense.
