Root Some text is replaced by "squares"

Hello all,
I posted in this forum because I am rooted and didn't know if it was a root app causing this or perhaps just the phone itself.
Anyway, this has been going on for sometime, not a hindering issue, but annoying nonetheless.
Some text in my phone is replaced by little squares. See below.
I have seen it in TB, in many versions of TB, and even the latest version.
I have now seen it in my dropbox app on phone.
It's here and there in a couple other apps but you get the picture. (see below)
I have cleared cache and dalvik numerous times in the last couple months, fixed permissions, cleared data/cache in the app itself (in manage apps).
It has even followed me from MikG rom to Decks Reloaded rom, so I rule out the rom issue.
I also rule out kernel as I have switched kernels numerous times.
Like I said, it's been going on for some time, searched off and on for the resolution but nothing came up definitive. Nothing that hinders, just annoying. Just thought I'd have some of ya'll take a look-see and help out

It's likely your custom font doesn't have the equivalent symbols of the default font so it comes up a blank space. I've had the same with other custom fonts too

I can live with that, but some of those squares should be letters.
Such as in the first pic, the first line with squares....it should say beta03-signed, not (square)eta03-signed.
And so on.
i.e. some of those squares are not symbols to begin with.

Ya know robo, I've been running that font for forever it seems, so I'm gonna try a different font.
Stand by, and if that works, I'll give you an "atta boy" along with a hearty handshake!

Edit: btw, you run smelkus also...what is the wipe of "Temp files" for?

Have you gone into the font folder and seen if all the permissions are correct?
Yeah that seems a bit strange. Might be that one of the font .ttf is simply incomplete, however missing a 'b' would be kinda slack!!


The Temp wipe, clears all temp files...what are they all? Not quite sure myself! lol!!
Things like app cache, browser history I think are temp.

I changed the font and Voila! Check it--

Yeah of all things to have an issue, fonts are usually the last thing on your mind. I got a problem with one font. I got ubuntu in my T.E but the spacing on it is off line so some prints come out un-aligned. Trying to figure out which ttf file it is so I can replace it!

Well, I've heard of ubuntu, never messed with it, not even sure what it is, so that's over my head.
Good luck with that and I'm sure you can figure it out.

Funny this is, I cannot remember the font.
I usually install fonts with Rom Toolbox, and its a pita to switch fonts to find out what works without those "squares". (due to the time it takes for my phone to reboot---12 minutes--ugh--I live with it)
The last font I posted, works, was too small for me to see.
So I installed another, bigger font, but now back to the "square" issue.
Rom toolbox does not tell me what font I currently have installed.
So I experiment in my spare time.
Do you have issues with fonts such as sony sketch or roboto?

Sony sketch and roboto seems ok. They're used in the uot kitchen so I think they are complete. I like sony sketch. I'm currently using the old republic font.

Nice, robo, I just tried another font because the last one that worked, that I posted, was too small. And now that one works, but...funny, dont remember what the name was...ugh...so, all is good, no squares, I can read it, so phone life is good for now anyways.
