Help Some very basic help needed

Hello

I have just got my NEXUS 5 and there is no user guide/manual.

I wanted to know:

1:How do I upload music clips so that I can use them as the ringtone?
As a default you can only use a limited range of noises as a ringtone

2:How do I upload pictures and use them as my background image on the phone?

Thanks

I haven't been able to test it yet since my Nexus 5 still in the process of shipping, but in previous revisions of android you can make custom ringtones/notifications by creating a folder at the top of your internal sd card called media, then a 2 subfolders where one is called Ringtones, and the other Notifications. Once created, move the .mp3's into their respective homes and reboot the device.

I've never been very good at setting custom wallpaper images so I can't help you there.

That works. You are officially "dead ace."

I don't do custom ringtones, but for wallpapers, any image that is in DCIM or any subfolder of DCIM will tend to be made available to be selected as wallpapers.

Unfortunately that doesn't work for me. I created the folders /sdcard/media/Ringtones and /sdcard/media/Notifications but my mp3 files (that I used under Android 4.3) are not recognized.

In 4.3 they were under /sdcard/Ringtones but even putting them there in 4.4 doesn't seem to work.

If you could let me know where to put them, one you get your phone, I'd greatly appreciate that.

Thanks so much,
Bernhard

For ringtones, try Tone Picker from the Play store. I haven't used it on the N5 yet, but it's been good for previous android phones.

On the root folder, simply create a folder called "/ringtones" or "/notifications" and upload whatever you want.

I'm still using some Blackberry notifications because I like/miss them :D

You could try using Amazon Cloud (or Google Drive/Dropbox).
Download the app, the you can view your files wirelessly from your Cloud on your N5 synched to your PC/Mac and choose what to download onto your device. This is how I set my wallpaper, but you could also email the image to yourself. To set a wallpaper in 4.4, press on the home screen with one finger and then picjk "wallpapers".
