1) I recently bought an xperia x10i(android 2,1)...but sadly i dont have any data services yet.And i wud love to download .apk files using my pc's broadband connection and transfer it to sd card.But my phone didnt come with any apps installer or file manager
what should i do?...i have seen some forums where in i need to download some software to my pc...but i didnt fully understand it...could u please explain step by step method of how to do that and also let me know if there is any harm if i do so

2) If by whatever means i get any data or 3g services for sometime....wat should i do then?
i dont have any android market pre installed in it as i bought it from middle east...and i reside in india

google is your friend...

Have you tried reinstalling the firmware on phone using seus? might put it back on there? if not follow the link to the guide..

You can still use your wi-fi connection to get to the market, if not just use your pc to dl an apk installer to install any other apks you find on the net..
settings applications tick unknown sources (only way to install apks)

Goto link above for guide on how to restore market to device (it says mini but works for any android device)
get an apk installer (use wifi to get from market)
put any other apks on your sd card in a folder marked apk (easy to find)
open apk installer
find folder
find file
click on it
choose install
enjoy

the risk is yours but i have never had an issue with phone because of this..

sory there..i didnt mean to be rude...ive bin waiting for the reply for quite a time...so i reposted it
but hey..i dont think u've fully understood my problem!
I dont have any apk installer or file browser in my phone...so even if i downoad apk installer from the pc and copy to sd card...i cant open it thru my phone to install it.

In order to run an APK, you just click on the file and it executes.

Get a file manager like Adao File Manager and put the file anywhere....then to run it, try and open the file from a file manager and it will try and run the file...if it is APK...it will run it.

You need a file manager to do it.

sorry for being so dumb but how can i get the file manager?
i dont have any data plans to get the file manager...even if i download .apk from my pc and send it to sd card i cant open thru phone coz i dont have any file browser

You cannot install anything unless you have the Market.

You cannot run any installer you download until you get an app that will let you do that....and you don't have any....so the only way to get an app is to install the Market, which requires reflashing

hey Thank a ton for taking interest in my problems?

now that i have data services....tell me what should i do?
wat is reflashing...n how to do it
n its totally safe rite?...i also read somewhere about debranding? could u please tell me wat is it?
