Just looking for advice on a possible project I would like to tackle. I have been looking for a device that allows me to gps track a toolbox. All the products I have looked at so far are either expensive or limited use because of the range like tile. So it got me to thinking that a mobile phone has everything I need but is there a way to make it into just a gps tracker? Can I by rooting the phone turn off all non essential bits and leave it bare boned enough to last weeks without charging?
Was also thinking if the power consumption was low enough would it possible for a small solar option to allow this device to charge?
