Something I'd LOVE to see (but probably won't).

I love my N5 and I am currently getting great battery life using the Franco kernel (34) with the Dirty Unicorns custom rom however, with that said more is always more, right?

I hate big, bulky battery pack cases, however, I think with the N5's camera sticking out as it does I feel it represents a fantastic opportunity for somebody to develop a replacement backing with a larger battery built in (similar to what is available for samsung phones) that's just thick enough to have the camera recessed slightly.

Think about it, I mean it'll almost certainly never happen, but I reckon it'd be really cool to protect that camera lens a little bit and at the same time get a little extra juice in there.

Yay or nay?

Eh, yeah, why not? I'm down.

I'm using the off white Google bumper case now anyway, which takes up the area in back just as you said.

By the way: Bad choice to go with the white case to match my white Nexus 5. That case stains way too easily. Any kind of pigment it rubs against, such as my shirts or pants, stains it. I might end up getting the black case because of that.

Oh well. At least it's just the case... Right?

I twnd to think the lens itself IS protected by it sticking out slightly. When the phone is laid on it's back, naked, the cover actually rests on the surface and NOT the lens itself.
That's just my take on it.

Well yes, but if the cover becomes scratched it will affect the resolution anyway. I use a leather case that ensures the lens/cover is recessed.

As a matter of interest, is it possible to replace the lens cover?

I made the same mistake with my white spigen case. I ended up ordering another black one I use most days.

Back onto the topic (:p), I doubt we'll ever see a case with a battery in it. You see it on the samsung phones because theres such a large number of people using them. With nexus, theres much fewer people, so companies arent as likely to take chances with products. The only downside to having the pure google experience :(

I have an anker external battery pack that I carry around in my backpack. If I'm away from an outlet, its got nearly 3 full charges in it.

I'm sure we'll never see it, I just think it would be cool.

When i say "cover" i mean the plastic rim which is sits proud of the lens.
I don't know much about the camera but believe you can attach magnetic lenses to it.Do they not do a magnetic cover and even if they did, would it stay in place during normal phone use.

Yes, you're right. I have had a VERY close look at it and the rim does protrude very slightly above the clear plastic cover.

Rather than attaching a magnetic cover, regardless of how clear it may be, I much prefer my leather (flip-front) case which effectively protects the lens cover by sitting proud of it.
