Help Sometimes media stops working... help please

Hi,
I have a problem with my device, sometimes when I try to start playing music it gives me the message "not supported", the same file that some minutes ago was playing just fine. Also I have noticed that when this happens I'm not able to record video either.

All is fixed just by rebooting the device.

I have some theories for this behaviour, but I hope for some expert in the inner workings of Android can help me.

I think there might be some service that provides the CODECS to handle audio decoding and/or video encoding, and for some reason that service is killed and does not start again untill I reboot the device.

Has anyone experienced the same behaviour?
Is there any fix?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S (I9000B) with Android 2.2
