Very much a noob here, to the Android scene, to the Linux world (though I dabbled years ago with Redhat). Previous very happy Iphone user, but hubby followed his dream of moving from corporate world to teaching in community college and Apple is no longer in our paygrade, LOL!
Also, frankly, I was getting frustrated with ol' Steve's iron hand. I jailbroke my IPhone my very own self in spite of a singular lack of geek cred, so desperate was I for basic control over the system!
I now have a Sammy Fascinate. This weekend I rooted it with LOTS of help from my computer-expert husband (okay, basically I looked over his shoulder and chose the options). Got tired of waiting for Froyo.
We were supposed to flash Superclean 2.8 (?) with voodoo but I'll get to that in another post.
Until then I was ready to put Go Phone minutes back on my poor old IPhone 3G I was so frustrated! I have a competely different device now, hooray, and that's even with the mistake I think we made.
I'm really happy and the thought of going back to an Apple phone rapidly looks less and less likely. There is definitely an Apple *p*d in my future still though. Can't help it - it's the apps situation still. My brother is profoundly autistic and nonverbal and uses an accessibility app that still has no Android equivalent.
But it's fun learning a new environment. I had a blast rebuilding my phone this weekend.
Been enjoying lurking in this community. Gotta say, definitely an improvement on most I-communities, where a certain amount of, um, clannishness can abound?
