Not to fuel the debate here, but right now, the media is dramatizing this situation for their own ratings. They say it about themselves all the time, "If it bleeds, it leads!" They pull on your heart-strings (what F are heart-strings anyway?) with both hands so you stay glued to the tube (even through the commercial breaks).
As a friend of a friend posted on FB:
"A friend of mine said it perfectly: Media is creating a celebrity-cult of shooters."
I don't really care to spend the time to look it up, but I'd be willing to bet money that more kids 10 and younger were killed this year from not wearing a seat belt than by lunatics with a deadly weapon. In the eyes and minds of the media, the only tragedy in that (if I'm correct) is that the non-seatbelt kids didn't die all at once so they (the media) could sensationalize it!
As for gun control, I'm with you 110% PrinceC. I have a CCW permit and, especially this time of year, I never go to the mall without carrying. I'm not so much worried about the nutjobs, but there are real and desperate criminals out there that want what I have and don't give a crap about me or my life in their pursuit of it. ...come to think of it, that last sentence can also be applied to the politicians!
