"Could It Be Magic" - words by Adrienne Anderson and music composed by Barry Manilow, based on chord and melodical progressions of Frédéric Chopin's Prelude in C Minor, Opus 28, Number 20.
For those who know Chopin, it's much more than based on that Prelude, it's a giant quotation. I bought the music, and to his credit Barry does give Chopin writing credits. Chopin's work is old enough to be in the public domain so Barry didn't have to do that.
Although I'm not a big Manilow fan, I find this song addicting. Barry did nice things with Chopin's prelude and the production and musical arrangement of the tune is fantastic from this arranger's point of view.
