"Satin Sheets" - Jeanne Pruett
Many years ago, an agent booked us into a club. When we got there early to set up our gear, the bartender had a big cowboy hat on, a vest with leather fringe, a plaid shirt, a bola tie, snakeskin boots, and "Satin Sheets" was playing on the jukebox. We were not a county band, although we did a few. Visions of "The Blues Brothers" movie flashed before us. We decided that if we survive, we would kill that agent.
Then a couple of hours later when it came time to start, new bartender, new crowd, and they were absolutely perfect for the mix of baby-boomer and contemporary pop music that we played. We ended up being held over for a couple of months.
The difference between the day and night crowd were about 180 degrees opposite. So the agent was right after all. It's a good thing, because I really didn't want to harm an agent
