"Jeff the Muff Diver" - The Barefoot Man
The Barefoot Man is a guy from Georgia who resettled in the Caribbean, covered Calypso songs for white tourists, and ended up writing a number for himself and is a minor star down there. When I worked on cruise ships I noticed the locals didn't think he was very authentic and the tourists loved him. I guess it was the blend of the Calypso modified by something more familiar that was a winner.
