Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, the song was banned on many radio stations because it implied the guy was asking the girl for sex, and she was resisting. Now in the 21st century we get lyrics to a song called W.A.P. that get sung in the Grammys on TV-- my how times change.
The melody in the verse is taken from the second movement of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. Sergei died in 1943, so I don't think he minded being ripped off.
