Sony Smart Watch 2 Compatibility

I just purchased a Sony Smart Watch 2 that was on a really awesome sale. I am not able to get it to function properly with my LG Optimus F6. I spoke with Sony who said they know of this issue, but decided to close the case and not proceed any further. I found it hard to believe, a company as big as Sony would abandon this issue, as in the advertisement it says it works with all Android devices 4.x and above. Though when I spoke with the representative he said it would not work with LG devices. I read somewhere else that it is possible through rooting the phone when going to kit kat. I'm currently running Android 4.1.2/Software MS50012b. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the flip side, I spoke with a representative at Metro PCS who after stating my situation, explained to me that he would give me the option of exchanging my phone for the Alcatel One Touch Fierce among a few other options. I don't really wanna switch phones but I see this is likely my only option. Has anyone had any experience with this phone that might help my decision? I don't want to switch the watch as it was a gift.
