Help sony x8 wont start up

hi everyone, any help would be greatly appreciated!
my daughters x8 wont start up,
It comes on the screen with the sony erricson logo then doesnt get any further.
If i connect it to the computer it stays exactly the same nothing new happens and my computer doesnt even know its connected
