Sony Xperia S USB OTG

Hey guys :hello: do you think the Samsung Galaxy Nexus' OTG cable work on my Sony Xperia S?? I have just bought the phone yesterday and its my 1st Android smartphone:o. So i'm pretty clueless about all this things:(

G'day guys - just joined the forum.
I was wondering if USB OTG has been disabled on the Xperia S with ICS? I got a cheap micro-usb to usb adaptor off ebay or something and am yet to have any success with connecting up a USB drive. Not sure whether its worth getting a branded USB drive instead?? (rather not for price though)
I know Gingerbread supported it, but ICS doesn't seem to (which is pretty annoying)
Feedback or suggestions would be appreciated
Cheers

In ICS you have to download Usb host controller from the market and Mount the USB ( in the app ) then you go to your file explorer and find its folder ( its called upon your selection while mounting )
Done you can now browse the USB :D

Do I need root access or something? I downloaded USB Host Controller, but when I plug the USB in, nothing seems to happen?
Thanks for your help. :)

Yes you do need root for this , and i have an easy legit 5 minute guide for you to root your phone ( which i used at first but now i have a custom rom so its pre-rooted )

Here's the link for the root : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460

You have to select that BOLD mount option .

then choose ehdd 2

it should appear in your SD card in any file manager like "file expert " or "astro " under the name ehdd 2 as a folder

Great, i'll give it a go. Does that void warrenty etc? Can you just do a hard reset to go back to normal too?
Also, should we be able to connect a keyboard and mouse too (do you need root access for that too or just normal ICS?)
Thanks for the help (pity Sony have disabled such a helpful feature!!)

No that does not void warranty as long as you don't unlock your bootloader ( something else to install custom roms ) , just remember to unroot before sending it to repairs using an application from the market called "ginger unroot"
no need for for reset or anything it takes 5 seconds to unroot with this app ( tested )

Just go ahead and connect your keyboard and mouse you don't need root for that .. it works automatically
