Help Sound cuts out

Ok, so my son's N7 has been down with a broken charger port for a few months.. When it died, everything was working fine. I just put a new battery and charging port in and everything went fine. The tablet powered right up and everything seemed to work. I started up a video and heard noise for a second then it quit and wouldn't come back. I switched to a different type of video and got the exact same thing. I tried YouTube, Netflix and my home videos and they all did the same thing. When I plug in headphones, I can get sound through them if I wiggle the port. I don't have a Bluetooth radio handy right now to test but I will soon.

I took the back off again and everything seems to be where it should and I was super carefully not to pull any wires other than the ones I was told to in the instruction videos I watched.

Please don't tell me to search for the answer as I already did. And please don't merge this with another sound problem thread unless they are having the same problem.

I know a few people have had to change the same port I did, I'm just wondering if anyone experienced the same thing. The tablet is not rooted and is still running 4.4, I haven't updated it yet.

IIRC when I had to replace the charging port the speaker assembly had to come out too. I know you check to see if everything was where it belonged, but I would take a close look at the speaker wires and the connection. Give the connection a squeeze to the port to make sure it is fully seated.

The speaker does have to come out. It looks to be tightly hooked to 2 wires that goes somewhere under the battery, the wires all seem snug. I really don't see where I could have made a mistake. If it's not some sort of software problem, I'm guessing the new port may be bad somehow. The charge and headphone jacks are one piece.

Oh, I forget that those two ports were the same. Those connections are secure?

After reading a bunch of the reviews from Amazon I started noticing people having similar problems. I bought another one from a different supplier but it looks like I just need to get lucky to get a working one. The old first supplier I used and the new one both had high ratings, I'll have to hope it works this time. Luckily the installation takes less than 10 minutes.

So to update....

I got the new ports and put them in. The tablet now works flawlessly.

I got both of the replacement ports from different suppliers, both looked reputable with good reviews. I think it's just hit or miss whether you get one with a wonky audio jack.
