Help Sound is muted when I start a YouTube video

Jdcaddell

Newbie
Ok guys I have a question this happens to me about 50% of the time when I try to watch a YouTube video. I'll click on the video to watch and it'll be muted, I click the rocker in the up direction and nothing happens, I click on the settings and nothing happens I close out YouTube a few times and then the sound will start working. Do any of you guys have any ideas or a cure for this problem or been experiencing it also?

maybe your sound settings for system or media are all mute? or try to reinstall your youtube app

How do I re install? I can only find an option to un install updates. I can't seem to figure out how to un install the whole app.

go to settings then application manager the just find your youtube app press it then uninstall ,. clear your cache and data for clean install for the new one

Ok, now I found out its not just YouTube its all media like Netflix, Spotify and others. It's starting to become very aggravating.

Have you checked settings > sound > volume - and see if your 'music, video games and other media settings aren't at minimum?

Yea I've checked everything. It works at times then bam its done, it'll come back up if I close out all the apps and sometimes it requires a restart. It's just so random at how or why it does it.

Some things are so bizarre they're hard to figure out.
By any chance do either of you having this issue have the app Light Flow installed?

I have the same issue, it happens at random times, but usually after I'm listening to music while being connected to a bluetooth, and if I disconnect from the bluetooth w/o resetting my phone it's happened a few times, but not the majority, it is frustrating tho bc you have to reset phone for it to work.

Is it happening after you have unplugged your earbuds? I noticed on my other phones I used to yank the cord out and I think that was wearing the input jack out which would cause my speakers to not work. I had to turn my phone off to get them to work other then that I would hear very small pops coming from the speaker. I'm trying to be very gentle with my Note 2.

I don't want to be overly careful yet these forum horror stories like drops and yanking the dang headphone out the jack makes one check and double check how they do things. :p

Could it be of some hearing protection programming. I notice some of the time when I plug my speakers at work through the headphone jack, a message appears on the screen warning about hearing damage.

I just had this problem.
Disabling Bluetooth solved it for me.
My phone obviously thought it was connected to Bluetooth headset or something.
